The Gingko in Autumn
Today's mono printing was a big success.
I had a blast working with the ginkgo leaves I'd picked from a neighbor's tree. They're sturdy enough to stand up to the sticky block printing ink, and their veins leave beautiful striations behind.
I was feeling so pleased with the results that I photographed a few prints to list on etsy. I've never had an etsy store before. But if I sell just a few prints and paintings, I could earn enough for some more art supplies.
You can check out my shop here. I only have two items listed, but I'm hoping to post more soon.
Did you know ginkgo biloba are also called maidenhair trees? And that they've existed for 270 million years? They're pretty fascinating. Whenever I find something ordinary with an extraordinary story, I want to pull a Maira Kalman and start painting colorful homages.
Who knows. Maybe I'll break out my gouache paints next.
