Portraits at the Bookstore
I spent all my free time drawing, painting, cutting and pasting today. We woke up to rain, so we brought a few bins of toys into the garage and chalked a race track on the floor. That kept the boys busy for about an hour. Then they started fighting, so we went to Barnes & Noble to play at the train table.
I drew a picture of my husband. His legs turned out wonky, which happens when you're drawing with a pen:
Later I cut up a few old mono prints and made the scalloped collage above. I love the color palette, but my scanner has a hard time with these neon pinks, yellows and blues. It took a lot of Photoshop adjustments to get the JPEG looking the way it does in real life.
Once I finally got the image the way I wanted it, I uploaded it to Society6. I haven't made a single sale yet, but it makes me feel accomplished to see my paintings and collages printed onto clocks, tote bags, blankets ... maybe one day I'll buy one for myself.
