Mundane Parenting Milestones
We reached another small milestone today: the baby is spending his first night in the nursery.
He's been sleeping downstairs in the pack and play since he was born, first in our bedroom and then out in the kitchen. That way I didn't have to run up and down the stairs each time he wanted to nurse, and I didn't have to worry about him waking up his older brother.
He's still sleeping erratically. Last night he woke up at 9 p.m., 1 a.m., 4 a.m. and 6:30. The night before that he only woke up once. Regardless of his rhythms, it's time he slept in an actual crib in an actual bedroom. Even if that bedroom is across the hall from his brother, who's a very light sleeper.
Tonight will be interesting. I'm going to keep this post short in the good chance that I spend the entire night running up and down stairs, soothing the baby and shooing the toddler back into his own bed. But who knows. Maybe I'll get lucky, and they'll both sleep like little angels.
