Mindless, Repetitive Creation
This cold I've been harboring all week has finally caught up to me. I managed to get a lot of writing done regardless. Illness helps me focus.
I stopped at the art supply store on my lunch break this afternoon. Bought a tube of black block printing ink and a few wooden block stamps in intricate Indian designs: an elephant, two paisleys and a leafy tree. I haven't gotten a chance to try them yet. But like the books on my shelf, their presence sustains me.
Check out these block stamps. Aren't they stunning? I love the anatomical stamps the best. I wonder if I could carve something similar out of rubber. It's much more flexible than wood, so the thin lines might pose difficulties. But some mindless, repetitive creation is exactly what my heart needs right now.
