Hi! I'm Kelly.

As a writer, I've always been interested in family stories. When I heard of a Satanic cult in my family tree, I thought I'd found the story of a lifetime. Read more.

Milestones and Marshmallow Cakes

Milestones and Marshmallow Cakes

I was loading the toddler in the car this morning when I spotted our first bloom of the season: a single yellow crocus.

We danced around it and cheered: Spring is coming! Spring is coming soon!

The day was warm but breezy. A big storm blew in after lunch. The sky went black as night, and hail the size of marbles rained down on the house. The toddler and the baby gathered in front of the window to see what was making all the noise.

"I'm impressed by this storm," the toddler said, as though he was an art critic evaluating a painting of particular merit.

We had grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner and the toddler's marshmallow cake for dessert. The baby started walking. He's taken a few tentative steps over the past few weeks, but this evening he started toddling around the living room like he's been doing it all his life.
