Hi! I'm Kelly.

As a writer, I've always been interested in family stories. When I heard of a Satanic cult in my family tree, I thought I'd found the story of a lifetime. Read more.

Mighty Ancestors

Mighty Ancestors

I love it when other people share their family stories in creative ways, so I instantly fell in love with this "Mighty Ancestors Zine."

When she died, my paternal grandmother left behind a manila envelope of old photos. The subjects are fascinating--a young man smoking a pipe in front of a window as he reads a book, a woman in formal dress aiming a shotgun. Problem is, I don't know who any of them are. And the only people who would know are long dead.

I don't want to burden future generations with more clutter, but I don't want to toss the photos in the trash, either. I was thinking an art project might be a way to honor these ancestral strangers. I don't know if it should be a painting, a collage or something else.

A zine is as good an idea as any.
