Hello from Hippocamp!
This marks year three of Hippocamp for me, and year two of speaking there.
Last year I spoke on Content Marketing for Writers. Here's a little video:
This year I gave a breakout session on Finding and Telling Family Stories. I spent a bunch of time perfecting my PowerPoint deck so naturally the room projector malfunctioned before I could begin. I started anyway, without slides, not wanting to keep people waiting. Someone brought a replacement projector about halfway through.
I might have given the events director of the Marriott an earful. I might have reminded him that last year they insisted I use my breast pump in a bathroom stall. I might have been grumpier than normal, because I'd misplaced my bag, and an elevator door had closed on me the hour before, and someone had walked in on me in the bathroom because the stalls don't have locks.
On the upside, I heard a lot of great sessions by a lot of great speakers. I saw some old friends and made some new ones. I came home with plenty of new reading material:
So all in all, a good day.
