Five Things That are Inspiring Me Lately
1. The photographer Jennifer MacNeil. If The Skeleton Club ever becomes a movie, I want it to look like her photos. I love how they feel dark and mysterious without ever being heavy or depressing. She lives in Lancaster like me, and it's thrilling to me to see a familiar world through such a brilliant lens.
2. This excerpt from Dinty Moore's new book, The Story Cure: How to Revise a Draft Without Going Crazy:
4. The Handmaid's Tale. I bought a paperback copy of the book in Baltimore yesterday, even though I already have the ebook version on my phone. It is so good.
5. This interview with Elizabeth Strout, about truth and memory. I read her first novel, Amy and Isabelle, ages ago and remember nothing of it. But this interview makes me want to read her entire oeuvre.
